                              Neuro& is back this fall with an inspiring look at the intersection of neuroscience and the arts! Join us as we welcome David Leventhal for Neuro&Dance on Saturday, October 11th! David Leventhal – Program Director and a Founding Teacher of Dance for PD®, an internationally recognized program of the Mark Morris Dance Group (MMDG) that brings dance classes to people living with Parkinson’s disease (PD) in over 30 countries. A former dancer with MMDG (1997–2011) and recipient of a Bessie Award, David has trained more than 2,500 teaching artists worldwide and co-produced the Dance for PD At Home video series. He has spoken globally on the role of dance in health and medicine and teaches a dance-based course in Columbia University’s Narrative Medicine program. His work bridges performance, education, and health to expand access to the arts and improve quality of life. Join us for a conversation about David’s journey from professional dancer to leader in arts and health. Learn how movement and creativity are being used to reimagine approaches to medicine, healing, and neuroscience.

                              Meet the Speaker: Neuroscientist, illustrator, and science communicator at Columbia University’s Zuckerman Institute. He earned his Ph.D. in neuroscience from University College London and is the author of Neurocomic, The Senses, and several children’s books. From 2016 to 2019, he was a Presidential Scholar in Society and Neuroscience at Columbia, where he studied how visual storytelling can support science communication. His work combines scientific knowledge with artistic creativity to make complex ideas easier to understand and more engaging for diverse audiences.
